NCC AIR WING

INTRODUCTION

The Air Wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) aims to foster a keen interest in aviation while developing essential qualities such as leadership, discipline, teamwork, and patriotism among cadets. It provides foundational knowledge in aeronautics, aircraft systems, air navigation, meteorology, and air safety, complemented by practical exposure through aero-modelling, microlight flying, simulator training, and visits to Indian Air Force stations. Cadets are also given opportunities to undergo microlight flying training, offering valuable hands-on aviation experience.

By instilling a strong sense of responsibility, technical awareness, and national pride, the Air Wing NCC plays a crucial role in motivating cadets to pursue careers in the Indian Air Force and other aviation-related fields, while shaping them into confident, disciplined, and responsible citizens. 

GSS has total strength of 100 cadets of boys and girls, it is also open to all students of various nearby colleges.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The NCC Air Wing of GSS College has earned a distinguished reputation for its consistent achievements and the success of its cadets while serving under the 8 Karnataka Air Squadron over the decades. Since 2016, Bravo Flight of GSS College has demonstrated remarkable excellence at both state and national levels.

• 15 cadets have represented the institution at the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC), New Delhi, participating in the Prime Minister’s Rally, Flag Area events, and Kartavya Path marching.
• Cadets have been honored with the Chief Minister’s Commendation Award for outstanding performance and discipline.
• At the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC), cadets secured an impressive tally of 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals in events such as Aero Modelling, 0.22 Rifle Firing, and Skeet Shooting. Apart from this 10 cadets have participated in AIVSC since 2016.
• Cadets have actively participated in various national-level camps, including Mountaineering Camps, Trekking Camps, National Integration Camps, and Air Force Attachment Camps.
• The unit has also contributed significantly to social awareness programmes, promoting responsibility and civic consciousness among youth.

True to the spirit of the Air Wing NCC, the unit consistently motivates cadets to pursue careers in the Armed Forces. Over the decades, many cadets have joined various wings of the Armed Forces and continue to serve the nation with dedication and honour.
