About the Department
The Postgraduate Department of Chemistry at GSS College offers a distinguished Master of Science (M.Sc.) programme in Organic Chemistry, designed to address the growing demand for specialized chemical education, research competence, and industry-ready skills in the region.
Affiliated with Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, since 2009, the department proudly stands as the exclusive provider of the M.Sc. Organic Chemistry programme under the University.
The department functions within a dedicated 7,000 sq. ft. academic facility, equipped with modern laboratories, specialized project research labs, advanced instrumentation, spacious classrooms, and a well-stocked departmental library. This well-planned infrastructure provides an ideal ecosystem for advanced learning, research, and innovation.
With a team of highly qualified faculty members (Ph.D. and KSET qualified) and experienced staff, the department ensures a strong blend of theoretical knowledge, laboratory training, and research exposure. Consistently excellent academic results and student achievements have established the department as a leading center for organic chemistry education across Northern Karnataka, Goa, and Southern Maharashtra.
From the academic year 2025–26, the department has further strengthened its industry-oriented approach by introducing an Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Chemistry and Organic Formulation, exclusively for M.Sc. Organic Chemistry students. This value-added programme provides specialized training in cosmetic product formulation, personal care chemistry, herbal and organic formulations, regulatory standards, and industrial practices, enhancing students’ employability in the fast-growing cosmetic and personal care sector.
